Angel Cabrera, Zach Johnson and Paul Casey Join Wyndham Field

GREENSBORO, N.C. – 2007 U.S. Open Champion Angel Cabrera, 2007 Masters Champion Zach Johnson and Paul Casey have officially joined the field for next week’s Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club, it was announced today. All three are among the top 50 golfers in the world.

These players join a Wyndham Championship field that already includes defending champion Brandt Snedeker, Vijay Singh, two-time winners Davis Love, III and Rocco Mediate, Tim Clark, Carl Pettersson, Lucas Glover, David Toms, David Duval, John Daly and 2007 British Amateur champion Drew Weaver.
“Having these three guys commit to the tournament says a lot about the importance of the Wyndham Championship and its position within the FedExCup schedule,” tournament director Mark Brazil said. “These are three guys who have each succeeded at the highest level of the international stage, and I know Triad golf fans will be excited to watch them play at Sedgefield next week.”

Cabrera is currently 28th in the Official World Golf Rankings. The Cordoba, Argentina native and resident has 17 international victories in his career, but he is best known for his 2007 U.S. Open victory when he defeated Tiger Woods and Jim Furyk by one stroke. He was also named to his second-consecutive President’s Cup team last year.

Johnson is 32nd in the Official World Golf Rankings. He won his first major championship at The Masters in 2007 and donned the famous green jacket. The three-time PGA TOUR winner from Iowa City, IA earned a berth on the 2007 President’s Cup team and finished with a 2-2-0 record. Johnson has finished in the top 40 on the PGA TOUR Official Money List in each of his four seasons on TOUR.

Casey, a native of Cheltenham, England is 41st in the Official World Golf Rankings. He has eight international victories but is still seeking his first PGA TOUR title. He finished tied for seventh at the British Open last month and tied for eighth at last week’s Bridgestone World Golf Championship. He won World Golf Championships World Cup with Luke Donald in 2004. The Arizona State alumnus lives in Scottsdale, Ariz. and Weybridge, England.
