A BIG thank you goes to each of you who volunteered. Without our Volunteers, the Wyndham Championship would not happen. I appreciate your gifts of your time and support. YA’LL ROCK!
On that note, I would like to thank the Volunteer Chairman. This group of men and women put in hours all year to make your volunteering experience enjoyable. Larry Hemphill, Andy Turner, and Scott Foster, ShotLink Chairmen, did a wonderful job getting every laser covered for the PGA TOUR. Chris Shaw, Mark Baker and Lee Pierce organized our Walking Scorers. I hope everyone noticed the boards that these guys designed and built for the Walking Scorers and Standard Bearers. Also, Lee Owen and Barbara Seamster covered the Standard Bearers. Did you notice that Lee designed and constructed a Standard cart? Brian Cruz and Amber Cottrell, two of our new chairs, orchestrated the carts and food. These two areas performed beautifully and in perfect harmony. Greg Current and Chip Friddle made sure everyone was clothed in awesome Wyndham blue. Tommy Caudle, Andrew and Megan Irby completed one of the best Pro Am caddie events that we have ever had. Walter Kromm and Andy Wyrick made sure we were all quiet and safe with Gallery Control. Last but not least, Jay Kenerly, Wyndham Tournament Committee Member, had a listening ear for all and ran things fantastically. These are the behind the scenes people who help make your Volunteer experience come together. They are the best.
In case you don’t know, Walter Kromm, Gallery Control Chairman, received the Volunteer of the year for the 2008 Wyndham Championship. Walter has put in countless hours getting schedules together, helping to create our database and giving on the hole tours for Gallery Control groups. I am very proud of Walter and his tremendous efforts.
As I give kudos, I want to remember Mark Brazil, Bobby Powell, and Wyndham for all the great ideas and thoughtful gifts that they give the Volunteers. We have come a long way from the days when I volunteered. These guys work and visit other Tournaments to get ideas to make your volunteer experience better.
Last but not least, I appreciate the kindness and hospitality that the Sedgefield folks, Rocky and his boys showed us at the Wyndham. I felt their excitement and zest over our event. The whole group went the extra mile to make everyone feel welcome. Thank you for being part of the Wyndham family.
As I close this year, I need to let you know that I have a few unclaimed chairs in my office. If any of you are missing one, please stop by 401 N Greene Street to claim these items.
If any of you have suggestions or comments about the 2008 Wyndham Championship, please email me. I do read and ponder each one. I never want to do the same things each year. If I do, the event becomes stale. Your comments help to fine tune or change for the better the volunteer experience each year. Thank you for taking your time to do this.
As many of you know, I am back teaching at Northeast now that the Tournament is over. I have also added Graduate School to my list of things to do. If you need to contact me, please call my cell 336-508-4878 or email me at dlondon@triad.rr.com. I love to hear from ya!
Have a wonderful and restful year. Please mark your calendar for Aug 17th thru 23rd 2009 Wyndham Championship. Ya’ll are the best Volunteers on the TOUR.
