                                                                                      June 26, 2009    The Wyndham Championship Volunteer Day is quickly approaching.  I hope all Volunteers have  marked their calendars for July 18th.  We will meet at the Historic Carolina Theatre on 310 South Greene Street, Greensboro.  The theatre is just down the street from the Tournament Office.  Parking for Volunteers will be located across the street from the theatre in the parking deck that is free on weekends.  If anyone needs directions, please go to the website www.carolinatheatre.com.  
     Volunteer Day will begin at 1:00 and end with the showing of The Greatest Game Ever Played.  This movie is about the 1913 U S Open and Francis Ouiment.  Mark Brazil, Tournament Director, and Bobby Powell, Operations Director, wanted to thank the Greatest Volunteers EVER by providing the Greatest Game Ever.   Of course, Mark and Bobby could not show a movie without hot fresh popcorn and ice cold drinks.  
     Always I am asked "WHY DO I HAVE TO COME TO TRAINING.  I HAVE DONE THIS FOR YEARS".  Training is a PGA TOUR requirement.  If a person is a brand new Volunteer or a Volunteer with a few years under their belts, PGA TOUR requires us to provide training  for them.  With proper training, a Volunteer will have a better experience on course.  Volunteer Day is a required part of being a Wyndham Championship Volunteer.   
      If anyone has not registered online, please do so at (www.wyndhamchampionship.com).   Our Chairmen are busy scheduling everyone.  Soon the schedules will be posted online for Volunteers  to access.  If any Volunteer is having problems registering as a returning Volunteer, please select the new Volunteer box.  We are finding that the database will allow all new but sometimes has problems with returning. 
   Volunteer clothing will be given on July 18th at the theatre.  This will be the best time for every Volunteer to get the desired size.  ALL clothing will be given before Tournament.  NO CLOTHING will be sold during Tournament week (Aug 17th thru 23rd) in the Volunteer Tent.  Volunteers need to bring their prepaid receipts or acknowledgements that they received when registering onling.     I hope everyone plans to attend this event.  I am a big movie buff so I am very excited about going to the  Theatre to see Greatest Game on the  large screen.    If anyone has any questions about Volunteer Day or registering, please call Dare London at 336-379-1570 ext 108 or email me at volunteers@wyndhamchampionship.com.
