Dare's Doodles - Updated Friday, July 31, 2009!
Dare's Doodles
July 30, 2009

We are 19 days away from the 70th Wyndham Championship. I am getting excited about seeing all of you at Sedgefield. This Dare's Doodles hopefully will answer any last minute questions that you might have and bring you up to date with Tournament info.

IF you know of any one that has not registered please send them to www.wyndhamchampionship.com to get their name on a spot. If they are having problems with the database, please tell them to call the office 336.379.1570 and ask for Nathan, our UNC intern. At this point, we really need Gallery Control folks. If you find you have an extra day or half day to give to Walter Kromm and Brian Cruz for Gallery Control please email wkromm@simco.com. You will be their hero!

The last day to register is August 8th and the last day to receive clothing is August 15th. Clothing times are Monday thru Friday from 9 to 5 at the Jaycee Office or on the training days. We are also mailing clothing. To have your clothing mailed, please call the office 336.379.1570. There is a $5.00 charge which covers postage. There are a few straw hats for sale at the price of $20.

Trainings for ShotLink and Walking Scorers will be held at the Jaycee Office, 401 N Greene Street. Volunteers may choose either one. Aug 13th starting with Walking Scorers at 6:30 pm with ShotLink following at 8:00 pm or Aug 15 starting with Walking Scorers at 12:30 pm following with ShotLink at 2:00 pm are the training times.

Schedules are being posted on line as they are being finished. Also, Gallery Control check in times are posted on the Volunteer website at www.wyndhamchampionship.com.

The Volunteer Food is being provided by a group of the Triad's Best Restaurants! Please if you are by any of these, say "Thank you". Libby Hill Seafood Restaurants, Panera Bread, Ham's, Shane's Rib Shack, and Chick-fil-A are the best in Volunteer food.

This year we have a new Volunteer Sponsor, Kisco Senior Living. We are delighted to have them in the Volunteer family. They will have about 40 Volunteers working very hard to get everyone fed under the tent along with the food committee. Stop by and let them know how much we appreciate their time.

Evacuation is a big word on course this year. The EVAC Plan includes getting EVERYONE off course in severe weather. Please check with your hole captain or chair person to learn about this. August is a great time to be visited by thunderboomers. Bobby, Mark and I want ALL of you safe. Please adhere to the plan's directions! A big thank you goes to Joe Robertson. He has worked extremely hard to "make this happen," as Mark Brazil says.
Remember to read your Volunteer Handbook. This book has lots of good information to make your time on course fun. Below are a few items to help make volunteering easier.

* Bring sunscreen and sunglasses. Wear your hat. Khakis slacks, capris, walking shorts, skorts, or skirts are allowed
* All Volunteers may bring their Wyndham bag inside the ropes however it may be checked by security
* Folding chairs are wonderful. Please leave the chair's bag at home. Many stores are offering them on sale now.
* Know your hole captain.
* Check in under the tent at least 30 minutes before you are to be on duty. Walking Scorers and Standard Bearers, please be there at least 45 minutes before duty.
* Tee times are posted online every day.
* Be sure to get a pairings guide under the tent before going to your hole.
* Golf cart drivers have to be approved by me. Please don't take one if you aren't assigned one.
* Stick a pencil or pen and paper in your Wyndham bag. You never know what you might need - a Sharpie is a great item to have on course. Also, binoculars are wonderful if you have them.
* Don't leave home without your credentials. You will not be allowed to park in the old JP parking lot or ride the shuttle if you dont have these.
* No cell phones on course. No cameras after Wednesday.
* Gallery Control Hole Captains need to come to the Volunteer tent on Aug 15 at 11:00 am for an EVAC drill.
* If you have a question, please contact your chairman (listed below). If this fails, then call me 336.508.4878.

Please plan to attend the "Jamestown Swing into the Wyndham" on August 15th from 3 until 8:30 pm in the town of Jamestown, North Carolina. There will be good music, food and drink. I will be a third shift Volunteer - say hello if you see me! Remember that your Wyndham credential will get you in for $5.00. This will be a blast!

If you have not visited the Fairway and Greene Wyndham Shoppe Website, you've got to see this. Fairway and Greene are one of the top clothiers for professional golfers and the Volunteer Clothing Sponsor. These folks have developed a site just for the Wyndham Volunteers to purchase their premier clothing at drastically reduced prices! Remember if you are wearing Fairway and Greene clothing and look like a pro, no one will notice how bad that last golf shot was! The website is http://wyndham.corp-store.com/. The price even includes shipping!

This is a really long Doodles but I want ya'll to have the best experience ever! Communication is the key! I may not get to see all of the 1300+ Volunteers on course to say thank you, but know I do appreciate your time and caring for the Wyndham. Please after the Tournament is over email any suggestions or tips to improve the Volunteer Area. I am always open. Have a fun weekend and see ya on course! D
