HURRICANE HELENE BENEFIT CONCERT FEATURING LANIE GARDNER

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Burnsville, N.C. native Lanie Gardner will perform a concert to benefit Western North Carolina hurricane relief at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 31 following the Wyndham Championship’s opening round, the tournament announced today. The 86th annual Wyndham Championship is set for July 30-Aug. 3, 2025 at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.

The concert, also featuring High Point’s Tatum Scott, is sponsored by the Wyndham Championship and Cone Health in support of communities impacted by Hurricane Helene. Set for Piedmont Hall on the Greensboro Complex campus, the concert will generate funding to help Western North Carolina recover from the devastating storm. All ticket proceeds will go directly toward recovery and rebuilding efforts.

Hurricane Helene made landfall in the big bend region of Florida just before midnight on Sept. 27, 2024 and moved north into Western North Carolina. Although much of the region was devastated, Asheville was hit particularly hard. The two-day rainfall totals were in the range of 12-20 inches although some areas received more.

Among the casualties was Asheville’s Municipal Golf Course or “Muni” designed by Donald Ross. The flat front side of the course was completely destroyed, but the back side, which climbs in elevation, was left mostly intact and remains open.

The front side will be rebuilt in the next few years, but in order to keep “Muni” open until the front side reopens, the Wyndham Championship is partnering with Wyndham Rewards and The First Tee – Central Carolina, which operates at the course, to raise general-operating funds for it.

Gardner, who released her second album, Polaroids, last month, was named the June “Apple Music Country Riser” and participated in Darius Rucker’s “Darius and Friends” to benefit St. Jude on June 3.

Scott is a High Point native now living in Nashville. She was a contestant on NBC’s “The Voice” earlier this year. John Legend chose her for his team, but four weeks later, he pitted her against another North Carolinian, Bryson Battle, who knocked Scott out of the competition.

Concert tickets may be purchased through the Greensboro Complex box office or Ticketmaster.
