JORDAN SPIETH JOINS FIELD

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Three-time Major winner, 2015 FedExCup champion and fan favorite Jordan Spieth will return to Sedgefield for next week’s Wyndham Championship, the tournament announced today. The 85th annual Wyndham Championship is set for Aug. 8-11, 2024, at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.

Spieth joins Rickie Fowler, FedExCup No. 7 Ben Griffin, former world No. 1 and Masters champion Adam Scott, past Masters Champion and FedExCup. No. 21 Hideki Matsuyama, Max Homa, 2022 U.S. Open Champion Matt Fitzpatrick, Scottish Open Champion and FedExCup No. 23 Chris Gotterup, FedExCup No. 15 Robert MacIntyre, FedExCup No. 26 and two-time Major winner Zach Johnson, past U.S. Open champion, Wyndham champion and FedExCup No. 26 Lucas Glover, FedExCup No. 29 Sungjae Im, FedExCup No. 30 Ryan Fox, FedExCup No. 33 Thomas Detry, world No. 1 amateur Jackson Koivun, defending champion Aaron Rai, 2019 U.S. Open champion Gary Woodland, past champions Kevin Kisner, Si Woo Kim, J.T. Poston, Tom Kim, two-time champion Brandt Snedeker, past U.S. Open champion Webb Simpson and Camilo Villegas in the field.

Spieth won the Masters, the U.S. Open and the FedExCup championship in 2015 followed by the Open Championship in 2017. The 13-time PGA TOUR winner is 48th in FedExCup points and 49th in the Official World Golf Rankings. His best finishes this season are fourth at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, tied for fourth at the WM Phoenix Open and tied for seventh at the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday. After successful off-season wrist surgery, Spieth suffered a neck and upper back injury earlier this summer but is now healthy.

A native of Dallas, he will make his second-consecutive Wyndham Championship appearance and his fifth overall. During his 2013 rookie season, he lost a two-hole playoff to Patrick Reed and finished second – still his best Wyndham Championship finish. He played in the Ryder Cup in 2014, ’16, ’18, ’21 and ‘23 and the Presidents Cup in 2013, ’15, ’17 and ‘22.

“Jordan is one of the top-five guys every tournament wants in their field,” Executive Director Mark Brazil said. “We are excited to have him with us again this year. With his short game and knowledge of this golf course, it would not surprise me to see him in contention on Sunday.”

During his junior golf career, Spieth played the AJGA Wyndham Invitational presented by Odyssey at Sedgefield in 2008 and ’09 finishing tied for sixth and fourth, respectively. He started the Jordan Spieth Family Foundation in 2014 as a platform to lend time, awareness and financial assistance to individuals with Special Needs, Junior Golf, Military Families and Veterans, and Pediatric Cancer.
