Luke Donald Scores Vacations for Life at Wyndham Championship

Donald Makes a Hole-in-One and Scores Big at This Year’s Tournament

GREENSBORO, N.C. – (Aug. 18, 2016) – Luke Donald won big at the Wyndham Championship earlier today when he made a hole-in-one on the par three 16th hole and won vacations for life, courtesy of Wyndham Vacation Ownership and Wyndham Rewards, part of Wyndham Worldwide (NYSE: WYN). The Wyndham Championship, held Aug. 15-21, is the final regular-season event in the PGA TOUR’s FedExCup season.

“I hit it in the hazard on 15, made a good par but came up to 16 and had a perfect number,” Donald said.  “It was downhill a little bit, 159 (yards), and it was playing straight downwind and good 9-iron for me and looked good all the way. Hit a foot short and went in the hole. Bonus when it goes in, obviously, and nice to win a holiday life – for the rest of my life, that sounds like a great deal. It’s a unique prize; I’m happy to be on the right side of it.”

Donald was awarded a CLUB WYNDHAM® Access vacation ownership interest, which provides a lifetime of vacations and access to more than 100 CLUB WYNDHAM® Plus resorts. The caddie of the player also received a one week stay at a CLUB WYNDHAM® resort. WINNER is the first to make a hole-in-one and win the prize since Derek Lamely did so in 2011.  WINNER and Lamely are the only golfers to win the prize since Wyndham Vacation Ownership began the program.

“As the global leader in family-friendly travel accommodations, Wyndham Worldwide makes travel more accessible and memorable for more people in more places than any other hospitality company in the world,”  said Stephen P. Holmes, chairman and chief executive officer, Wyndham Worldwide. “What better way to recognize the tremendous dedication of the players and caddies participating in this year’s tournament than giving them the opportunity to win a vacation for life.”

Since 2008, PGA TOUR professionals participating in the Wyndham Championship have had an opportunity to win vacations for life for making a hole-in-one on the 16th hole during official tournament play. In 2014, a caddie component was added to the contest giving PGA TOUR caddies a chance to make a hole-in-one during both the Monday Kevin Harvick Foundation Pro-Am presented by TCDI and BB&T and Wednesday’s Louis DeJoy and Aldona Z. Wos Family Foundation Pro-Am. A caddie has not yet won the prize. Through CLUB WYNDHAM, hole-in-one winners will have the flexibility to choose when, where and for how long they would like to vacation as well as the unit size they would like for their stay at any of the Company’s resorts within its vast portfolio, depending on availability. Winners can also use their vacation ownership points for a variety of options, including unique travel benefits such as cruises, hotel stays and guided trips. The vacation ownership interest can be passed to their heirs.
