Former Wyndham Winners Snedeker, Pettersson Join Wyndham Field; Weekley, DiMarco, Woodland Will Also Play

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Former Wyndham winners Brandt Snedeker and Carl Pettersson highlight the most recent group of players making commitments to the Wyndham Championship field, it was announced today.  Also joining the field are Boo Weekley, Chris DiMarco and Gary Woodland.  These players join a field that includes defending champion and U.S. Open Champion Webb Simpson, 2012 Ryder Cup Captain Davis Love III, 2011 FedExCup champion Bill Haas and Jason Dufner.  The 73rd annual Wyndham Championship is set for Aug. 13-19, 2012.

2007 Wyndham winner Brandt Snedeker returns to Sedgefield this year after finishing tied for third at the Open Championship in England last weekend.  Earlier this season, he won the Farmers Insurance Open in San Diego, Calif.  Snedeker is 18th in the current FedExCup point standings and 24th in the Official World Golf Rankings.  He has four top-10 finishes in the 14 tournaments he has played this season.   The Vanderbilt University alumnus won the inaugural Wyndham Championship and went onto become the PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year that season. This year’s tournament will be Snedeker’s sixth consecutive appearance here; he is sixth in career Wyndham Championship earnings with $1,225,839.

2008 champion Carl Pettersson will play the Wyndham again this year.  The NC State alumnus and former Greensboro resident holds multiple tournament records including 36-hole score (125), 54-hole score (191) and 72-hole score (259, 21 under par). Pettersson is eighth in the current FedExCup point standings and 39th in the Official World Golf Rankings.  Pettersson is making his 10th consecutive Wyndham appearance; he finished tied for fourth last year, one of his three top-five finishes here.  He is second in career Wyndham Championship earnings with $1,472,880.

Weekley is a fan favorite at the Wyndham Championship; he finished tied for third at the Puerto Rico Open and tied for sixth at the RBC Heritage in Hilton Head, S.C. where he won in 2007 and ’08.  This year’s Wyndham appearance will be Weekley’s fifth overall and fourth consecutive; his best finish here came in 2009 when he finished tied for 32nd.  He is 117th in the current FedExCup point standings.

DiMarco will make his 10th Wyndham Championship appearance next month; his best finish here came in 1995 when he finished tied for 19th.  A three-time PGA TOUR winner, DiMarco is 123rd in the current FedExCup point standings.  He finished tied for sixth at the John Deere Classic two weeks ago where he posted four consecutive rounds in the 60s.

Woodland will be making his first Wyndham Championship appearance.  He turned professional in 2007 and joined the PGA TOUR in 2011 after attending the University of Kansas. He won the 2011 Transitions Championship in Tampa, Fla. and added five additional top-10 finishes last season.   He is 132nd in the current FedExCup point standings and 85th in the Official World Golf Rankings.
