2013 Masters Champion Adam Scott Joins Wyndham Field

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Adam Scott, the 2013 Masters champion, made his commitment late yesterday and will play the Wyndham Championship, the tournament announced today.  The 79th annual Wyndham Championship is next week at Sedgefield Country Club.

Scott joins defending champion and 2013 FedExCup champion Henrik Stenson, 2018 PLAYERS Championship and 2011 Wyndham winner Webb Simpson, 2007 winner and 2012 FedExCup Champion Brandt Snedeker, 2009 Wyndham winner Ryan Moore, 2016 winner and 2017 PLAYERS Champion Si Woo Kim,  2018 Ryder Cup Captain Jim Furyk, World Golf Hall of Famer Ernie Els, 2011 FedExCup champion Bill Haas, three-time champion Davis Love III, PGA TOUR veteran Steve Stricker, East Carolina University alumnus Harold Varner III, 19-year-old phenoms Joaquin Niemann and Norman Xiong and Major winners Padraig Harrington, Jason Dufner, Graeme McDowell and Stewart Cink as well as 2008 champion Carl Pettersson in the Wyndham Championship field.

Scott became the first Australian to win the Masters after he birdied the second playoff hole to defeat Angel Cabrera at Augusta National. A former No. 1 golfer in the world, Scott has 13 PGA TOUR victories and 13 international wins to his credit.  His best finish this season is tied for ninth at the AT&T Byron Nelson.  He played for the international team in each of the last eight Presidents Cup Matches.  Scott will make his fourth Wyndham Championship appearance and his first since 2015.  He is 119th in the FedExCup point standings and 76th in the Official World Golf Rankings.

“Anytime we add a Masters champion to our field, it’s great news,” tournament director Mark Brazil said.  “Adam Scott has been one of the best players in the world over the last 10 years, and as good a player as he is, he’s an even better person.  He’s great with fans and sponsors, and I know a ton of people are really excited that he’s coming back to the Wyndham.”
