Jackson Koivun Poised for PGA TOUR Career Following High Wyndham Finish

A new season of PGA TOUR golf is on the horizon, and Jackson Koivun is one of the potential big stories of the 2026 season. Like he was when he made his sixth PGA TOUR at the 2025 Wyndham Championship, Koivun is the No. 1 amateur in the world. He finished tied for fifth and equaled Luke Clanton’s Wyndham Championship record for best finish by an amateur.

Koivun, 20, is a native of San Jose, Calif., who grew up in Chapel Hill, N.C. Prior to his first PGA TOUR start at Sedgefield Country Club, Koivun finished fourth in the 2022 AJGA Wyndham Invitational at Sedgefield. He is the first player to win all four major collegiate awards. He won the Jack Nicklaus, Fred Haskins, Ben Hogan and Phil Mickelson awards in addition to the 2024 SEC Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year awards.

Koivun earned his PGA TOUR card through PGA TOUR University in 2025 but returned to Auburn University for his junior season in the fall; he will accept PGA TOUR membership in June. Koivun is already among the conversations about what to expect in the coming season, and many have him “penciled in” as the 2026 PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year – despite starting his career five months into the season.

Koivun appears to have unlimited potential and made Golfweek’s pre-season list of five predictions for the 2026 PGA TOUR season. Read the full story here.
