Greensboro, N.C. (August 14, 2013) – Caddies at the Wyndham Championship will have an opportunity to win a vacation for life, courtesy of Wyndham Vacation Ownership, the vacation ownership division of Wyndham Worldwide (NYSE: WYN). The Wyndham Championship, held August 15-18, is an annual golf tournament on the PGA TOUR and the final stop of the PGA TOUR’s FedEx Cup regular season.
During today’s New Breed Logistics Pro-Am at Sedgefield Country Club, the first caddy to make a hole-in-one on hole 16 from the forward tee will be awarded a CLUB WYNDHAM® Access vacation ownership interest with Wyndham Vacation Resorts as well as membership in the company’s points-based exchange program, which provides a lifetime of vacations and access to over 70 CLUB WYNDHAM® resorts around the world.
“As one of the world’s largest hospitality companies, Wyndham Worldwide is committed to creating great vacation experiences for our guests and customers. We understand the pressure the caddies are under as part of their day-to-day routine, and are thrilled to be able to award a vacation for life to those who ‘carry the day,’” said Stephen P. Holmes, chairman and chief executive officer, Wyndham Worldwide. “Being a caddy on the PGA TOUR takes tremendous dedication and commitment, and they deserve to unwind away from the stress of the game and take vacations for their health and well-being.”
Caddies aren’t the only ones who can win a vacation. Wyndham Rewards®, the guest loyalty program of Wyndham Hotel Group, is giving away one million Wyndham Rewards points to a lucky fan. Spectators can enter for a chance to win the Wyndham Rewards points at the “Key to Wyn” tent on-site at the tournament. Wyndham Rewards loyalty program is the largest hotel loyalty program in the world with over 7,000 participating hotels and the only hotel loyalty program to offer guaranteed rewards with every qualified stay. Points can be redeemed for complimentary hotel stays, airline tickets, name-brand merchandise and dining and shopping gift cards, among other options.
Since 2011, PGA TOUR professionals participating at the Wyndham Championship have had an opportunity to win a vacation for life for making a hole-in-one on the 16th hole. This is the first year the program is expanding to include caddies.
Hole-in-one winners have the flexibility to choose when, where and for how long they would like to vacation as well as the unit size they would like for their stay with the option to vacation at any of the Company’s resorts within its vast portfolio, depending on availability. Winners can also use their vacation ownership points for a variety of options, including unique travel benefits such as cruises, hotel stays and guided trips. The vacation ownership interest can also be passed to their heirs.
