Cameron Young won his third PGA TOUR tournament at the Cadillac Championship in Miami. He won by a landslide, and while the victory was reminiscent of his first PGA TOUR win at the 2025 Wyndham Championship, its significance had a different feeling.
One year ago, Young was quite possibly the best PGA TOUR player without a win to his credit. All of that changed last summer when the Wake Forest alumnus notched his first PGA TOUR victory in spectacular fashion winning the Wyndham Championship in a runaway. He led by three strokes after the second round, five strokes after the third round and took his maiden PGA TOUR victory by a staggering six shots. He would go onto excel the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black near his New York home town and win the first point in the United States’ Sunday comeback bid.
In March, he won the PLAYERS Championship at TPC Sawgrass after hitting perhaps the best shot of his career to 10 feet on the island green at the 17th hole, the penultimate hole of the tournament. He made the birdie putt and then hit a 375-yard drive on the 18th hole, made par and won the tournament by a stroke over Matt Fitzpatrick.
Like the Wyndham Championship, Young won the Cadillac Championship by six strokes in a blowout victory, this time over Scottie Scheffler, the No. 1 player in the world, despite calling a penalty on himself during the final round. Young played 93 tournaments without a win but now has three wins in his last 14 starts.
Now, with wins at the Wyndham Championship, PLAYERS Championship and the Cadillac Championship, a signature event, the world No. 3 established himself as a consistent threat to win the biggest events, no matter the circumstance. It’s a pretty good time to be Cameron Young as Brendon Elliott describes for Athlon Sports.
