FedExCup Contenders No. 20 Jason Dufner, No. 30 Scott Piercy and No. 33 Harris English Join Wyndham Field

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Three golfers with strong FedExCup point standings, Jason Dufner, Scott Piercy and Harris English, will play the 2016 Wyndham Championship, the tournament announced today.  The 77th annual Wyndham Championship is set for Aug. 15-21, 2016 at Sedgefield Country Club.

These players join former Wyndham winners Brandt Snedeker and Webb Simpson, Wake Forest alumnus Bill Haas, Justin Thomas, Hideki Matsuyama, U.S. Open champions Graeme McDowell and Jim Furyk, Kevin Kisner, Kevin Na, William McGirt as well as Spanish stars Rafael Cabrera Bello and Jon Rahm in the field.

Dufner won the 2013 PGA Championship and has three additional PGA TOUR wins including this season’s CareerBuilder Challenge.  In addition to his win, he finished tied for sixth at the Dean & Deluca Invitational, tied for eighth at the U.S. Open and tied for ninth at both the RSM Classic and the Sony Open in Hawaii.  The Auburn University alumnus will make his ninth Wyndham Championship appearance this year; he finished tied for seventh in 2012 for his best Wyndham Championship finish.  A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Dufner is 20th in the FedExCup point standings, 54th in the Official World Golf Rankings and 17th in the latest Ryder Cup point standing.

World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational - Round ThreePiercy was the runner-up at both the U.S. Open and the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational this year; he has three PGA TOUR victories but has yet to win this season.  He also finished tied for seventh at the CIMB Classic after opening with a 62.  A native and resident of Las Vegas, Piercy has been on the PGA TOUR since 2009. He finished tied for eighth at the 2012 Wyndham Championship for his best finish in three-previous appearances here.  He is 30th in the current FedExCup point standings, 27th in the Official World Golf Rankings and 13th in the latest Ryder Cup point standings.

English will play the Wyndham for the third time later this month; he finished tied for 10th in 2012 and tied for 31st last year.  The University of Georgia alumnus has two PGA TOUR wins to his credit but has not yet won this season. He finished second at the Dean & Deluca Invitational, third at the Waste Management Phoenix Open and 10th at the World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship earlier this season. He is 33rd in the FedExCup point standings, 56th in the Official World Golf Rankings and 24th in the Ryder Cup point standings.
