Finalists Determined for Wyndham Championship "Charity of Choice" Awareness Campaign

GREENSBORO, N.C.  (July 27, 2012)  – – Piedmont Triad golf fans have spoken:  After nearly three weeks of voting at wyndhamchampionship.com and the Wyndham Worldwide Facebook page, the 10 Piedmont Triad charitable organizations eligible for the Wyndham Championship “Charity of Choice” Awareness Campaign have been determined, it was announced today.  The 73rd annual Wyndham Championship is set for Aug. 13-19, 2012.

Wyndham Worldwide (NYSE:WYN), one of the world’s largest hospitality companies, continues to support local Piedmont Triad charitable organizations dedicated to improving the lives of children through this year’s Wyndham Championship “Charity of Choice” awareness campaign.  Wyndham’s philanthropic program, Wishes by Wyndham, is the official charity of the Wyndham Championship.

Fans voted for their favorite eligible charity Monday, July 9 through Wednesday, July 25, and the charities with the top-10 vote totals are finalists.  Thursday, Aug. 16 through Sunday, Aug. 19 of tournament week, Wyndham Championship attendees can vote for their favorite charity at the Wyndham Key to Wyn tent located between the clubhouse and the main putting green at Sedgefield Country Club.   Attendees who vote will also be registered for a chance to win a daily grand prize drawing of a Wyndham vacation.

Last year, The First Tee of the Triad won the fan vote and the $100,000 donation and quickly made a donation to each of the other top-five finishers.  Because it won last year, The First Tee of the Triad is not eligible for this program for five years.  The list of charitable organizations eligible for onsite voting during this year’s tournament is below in alphabetical order:

American Cancer Society Hope Lodge

Autism Society of North Carolina

Boys and Girls Homes of North Carolina

Camp Carefree

Children’s Home Society of North Carolina

Foster Friends of North Carolina

Greensboro Children’s Museum

Imprints for Families

Piedmont Triad  Chapter of Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

Victory Junction

Charitable organizations participating in the 2012 “Charity of Choice” awareness campaign are non-profit organizations with current 501(c)3 status whose only mission is to improve the lives of children.  Unlike last year, pass-through organizations whereby an organization raises money on behalf of another charitable organization may not participate.   An organization with statewide or National reach must be able to designate a portion of the winning funds to Piedmont Triad programs in order to be eligible.
