The PGA TOUR season opens this week, and four past Wyndham champions will be in the field. Webb Simpson (2011), Si Woo Kim (2016), Tom Kim (2022) and Aaron Rai (2024) start their seasons this week. With the new season comes some changes in tournament operations that will also be in place when the FedExCup regular season closes at the Wyndham Championship Aug. 5-9, 2026.
The most-notable change is a reduction in field size designed to improve pace of play. This field for week’s Sony Open in Hawaii was reduced from 144 to 120 players. The Wyndham Championship field will be 144 players instead of the traditional 156-player field.
