FREE WYNDHAM CHAMPIONSHIP BLOCK PARTY ROCKS GREENSBORO WITH SLEEPING BOOTY

GREENSBORO, N.C. � The Piedmont Triad�s PGA TOUR event will celebrate the inaugural Wyndham Championship with a block party in downtown Greensboro on Saturday, Aug. 18. The Wyndham Championship Block Party, presented by UnitedHealthcare, is set for 7 p.m. near Natty Greene�s, and admission is free. The City of Greensboro will close McGee Street between Elm Street and Davie Street allowing the Block Party to take place at Hamburger Square, just south of Natty Greene�s. Sleeping Booty will begin shortly after 7 p.m. and play until approximately 11 p.m. when the event concludes. �We are placing events around our tournament that make the Wyndham Championship more than just a golf tournament,� tournament director Mark Brazil said. �The Wyndham Championship Block Party has potential to get bigger and better every year. Thanks to UnitedHealthcare, the Block Party is open to the public free of charge, and we hope to see people at this party from all over the Piedmont Triad.� According to the band�s website, �Sleeping Booty is a 10-piece band that brings a consistent, high-energy show with custom-made outfits, an explosive horn section, lush vocals and dynamic interactive choreographed showmanship.� Formed in 1999, Sleeping Booty is known for non-stop shows that have been opening acts for such bands as The B52s, Earth Wind and Fire and Chicago among many others. The 2007 Wyndham Championship is set for Aug. 13-19 at Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.
