International Superstar Hideki Matsuyama Joins Wyndham Field

GREENSBORO, N.C. – International superstar Hideki Matsuyama will play the 2016 Wyndham Championship, the tournament announced today.  The 77th annual Wyndham Championship is set for Aug. 15-21, 2016 at Sedgefield Country Club.

Matsuyama joins former Wyndham winners Brandt Snedeker and Webb Simpson, Wake Forest alumnus Bill Haas, Justin Thomas and Spanish stars Rafael Cabera Bello and Jon Rahm in the field.

Matsuyama will make his fourth-consecutive Wyndham Championship appearance this year; he missed the cut last year but finished 15th in 2013.  Matsuyama won the Waste Management Phoenix Open, finished tied for seventh at the Masters and the Players Championship, finished fifth at the CIMB Classic and tied for sixth at the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard earlier this season.  He has two PGA TOUR wins and five international wins to his credit.  A native and resident of Japan, Matsuyama is 19th in the Official Golf World Rankings and 20th in the current FedExCup point standings.
