Jason Gore Commits to the Chrysler Classic of Greensboro; Ticket promotion extended

GREENSBORO, N.C. – – His stellar play in the U.S. Open at Pinehurst Country Club made him a household name; now the “Prince of Pinehurst” is coming to the Triad for the 2005 Chrysler Classic of Greensboro.
Fan-favorite PGA TOUR golfer Jason Gore has officially committed to participate in this year’s Chrysler Classic, set for Sept. 26-Oct. 2 at Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro, N.C., it was announced today.
Gore entered the U.S. Open as the No. 58 player on the Nationwide Tour money list. Despite a disappointing 84 in the final round at Pinehurst No. 2, Gore walked away with a legion of new fans, a much-needed dose of confidence and a new nickname.
Following his U.S Open performance, Gore ripped off three straight wins for the first time in Nationwide Tour history and earned instant PGA TOUR eligibility. Gore fired a second-round 59 on his way to winning last week’s Cox Classic in Omaha, Neb. He is just the seventh player in Nationwide Tour history to win the Battlefield Promotion, an immediate ticket to the PGA TOUR for a player who wins three Nationwide Tour events in a single season. With his six career Nationwide Tour wins, the Pepperdine University alumnus joins Matt Gogel and Sean Murphy atop the Nationwide Tour career wins list.
“Jason is one of the hottest golfers on the planet right now,” Chrysler Classic tournament director Mark Brazil said. “Winning three Nationwide Tour events is no small task, but winning three straight and shooting a 59 in the process is just amazing.”
Fan’s wishing to watch Gore and the other PGA TOUR greats can still get in on a half-price ticket promotion which, due to Gore’s commitment, has now been extended through Friday, Aug. 19 . Single-day Chrysler Classic tickets, purchased by Aug. 19, are just $10 and can be used for one of the four tournament rounds or as a passport to all three practice-round days, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
The 2005 Chrysler Classic of Greensboro is set for Sept. 26-Oct. 2, 2005 at Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. This year’s tournament marks the 10th anniversary of Chrysler’s title sponsorship and thanks VF Corporation and Harris Teeter for increasing their involvement to the Premier Partner level. Tickets are available at the tournament office at (336) 379-1570. Additional tournament information is available at www.chryslerclassic.org.
