Poston, Davis Love III, Webb Simpson, Ryan Moore and two-time champion and 2012 FedExCup champion Brandt Snedeker.

Matsuyama, the 2021 Masters champion and the first Japanese player to win a men’s major championship, is 54th in the current FedExCup point standings and 29th in the Official World Golf Rankings. He will make his eighth Wyndham Championship appearance next week; he finished tied for third in 2016 and tied for 11th in 2018 for his best finishes at Sedgefield.

Matsuyama is an eight-time PGA TOUR winner with eight international victories to his credit. He won the Zozo Championship and the Sony Open in Hawaii last season but has yet to hoist a trophy in 2023. His best finishes this season are fifth at the PLAYERS Championship, tied for ninth at the Farmers Insurance Classic and tied for 13th at both the Travelers Championship and last week’s Open Championship. He is a native and resident of Japan.

Kuchar is making his sixth Wyndham Championship appearance; he finished tied for 21st in 2021 for his best Sedgefield showing. He is a nine-time PGA TOUR winner with two international victories, and he has four Ryder Cups and five Presidents Cups to his credit. He hasn’t won this season but finished tied for seventh at the Sony Open in Hawaii, eighth at The Genesis Invitational, tied for ninth at the World Golf Championships – Dell Technologies Match Play and tied for third at the Valero Texas Open. He is 56th in FedExCup points and 58th in the Official World Golf Rankings.

“Hideki is a major addition to the Wyndham Championship field,” executive director Mark Brazil said. “He’s a huge star all over the world, and having him at Sedgefield just makes our tournament better on many levels. He understands that the higher he is in points when the playoffs begin, the better his chances are of reaching the TOUR Championship. Matt is a fan favorite wherever he plays, and it looks like he’s working to get into the top-50 in points to position himself for next season. Our field was already very strong, but it just got a lot stronger with these two players.”
