Jordan Smith will also receive one million points
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Four local charities focused on helping feed families throughout the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina will soon be the recipients of a combined one million Wyndham Rewards® points thanks to PGA TOUR golfer Jordan Smith and his hole-in-one on the par-3 16th hole earlier today at the Wyndham Championship. The final round of the 87th annual Wyndham Championship is tomorrow at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.
The four charities—Backpack Beginnings, Forsyth Backpacks, Out of the Garden Project and United Way of Greater High Point—are a part of the tournament’s backpack program, a key charitable initiative of Wyndham Championship Fore! Good, the signature philanthropic platform of the Wyndham Championship.
Smith will also receive one million Wyndham Rewards, enough for over a month of free stays at Wyndham Rewards’ most aspirational hotels and resorts around the world.
“It’s nice that they (Wyndham Rewards) were able to give back to charity,” Smith said. “Every little bit helps, and obviously the silver lining of me getting a few points – use them on a few hotels probably next year at some point. For vacation, not a clue where, but probably somewhere hot, somewhere next to the sea with a nice beach and a good barman.
“A hole in one always helps if you have one of them in a round. It was like a perfect 9‑iron for us, and obviously it came out perfectly.”
A long-standing tradition at the fan-friendly tournament, which is contested annually at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C., and is the last tournament of the PGA TOUR regular season, the prize-winning shot sees Smith join the list of previous hole-in-one winners, including Joseph Bramlett (2022), Chesson Hadley (2021), C.T. Pan (2020), Ben Crane (2017), Luke Donald (2016) and Derek Lamely (2011).
