Schiffman’s Jewelers Named Wyndham Championship’s “Official Jeweler”

GREENSBORO, N.C.  – Longtime Greensboro jewelry firm Schiffman’s Jewelers has been named the Wyndham Championship’s “Official Jeweler,” the tournament announced today.  The 74th annual Wyndham Championship is set for Aug. 12-18, 2013.

In addition to serving as the tournament’s “Official Jeweler,” Schiffman’s Jewelers, in partnership with designer jewelry brand Roberto Coin, will present an exhibition of Roberto Coin jewelry inside the clubhouse at Sedgefield Country Club throughout tournament week.  Schiffman’s and Roberto Coin will also sponsor lunch during the Astellas presents Executive Women’s Day on Tuesday of tournament week.  Later in the week when official tournament play begins, Schiffman’s will entertain guests in the Champions Club which is located in the Sedgefield clubhouse.

“It’s very exciting for us to be a part of the Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield,” said Lane Schiffman, Vice President of Schiffman’s Jewelers. “The tournament has been a highlight of the Piedmont Triad sporting calendar for as long as I can remember. In fact, four generations of our family have been thrilled by tournament play. Our sponsorship in conjunction with the Roberto Coin jewelry brand is a direct reflection of our love of the game and esteem for the Piedmont Triad community.”

“Schiffman’s Jewelers has been a Wyndham Championship supporter for a long time, and we really appreciate the Schiffman family stepping up to this new level as our official jeweler,” Wyndham Championship tournament director Mark Brazil said.  “We are also very appreciative of Roberto Coin’s participation in conjunction with Schiffman’s, and I am confident this partnership will be beneficial for all parties as the relationship evolves.”

Established in 1893 by Simon Schiffman, Schiffman’s Jewelers is the oldest, family-run retail business in the Piedmont-Triad region. Now guided by the fourth generation of the Schiffman family, the firm and family members maintain their legacy of community service by actively supporting numerous local organizations including the Greensboro Coliseum, Greensboro Grasshoppers, the American Heart Association Triad Chapter, Make-A-Wish, Family Service of the Piedmont, Children’s Home Society of NC and Junior Leagues of Greensboro and Winston Salem.  Headquartered at 225 S. Roberto Coin’s jewels reflect his passionate tribute to the joy of life. Each piece is a unique work of art that embodies the Venetian-born designer’s rich family heritage in the Italian fashion industry, his aesthetic sensibilities and creative exuberance. Coin’s signature, a Ruby embedded inside the jewel, was inspired by the Ancient Egyptian belief that a ruby worn next to the skin will bring good health, happiness and good fortune to the wearer. Roberto Coin, launched in 1996, is one of the world’s leading luxury jewelry brands. The Roberto Coin collection is available at Schiffman’s Friendly Shopping Center and Winston-Salem locations.

Contested annually on the Donald Ross-designed course at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C., the Wyndham Championship was founded in 1938 and is the seventh-oldest event on the PGA TOUR.  Two-for-one good-any-day tickets are available for purchase at Piedmont Triad Harris Teeter locations with a VIC Card; other tickets are available at or through the tournament office.  The tournament thanks title sponsor Wyndham Worldwide, presenting sponsor BB&T and Premier Partners, Cadillac, Harris Teeter, McConnell Golf, Sunbrella®, Technology Concepts & Design, Inc. and VF Corporation for their continued support.  Additional tournament information, including ticket packages and sponsorship information, is available at or through the tournament office at (336) 379-1570.  For more information about Wyndham Worldwide, please visit  Stay connected with the Wyndham Championship through its social media channels, including the Wyndham Championship Facebook page, Twitter, Instagram, Foursquare, Flickr and YouTube.
