VICTORY JUNCTION GANG CAMP NAMED OFFICIAL CHARITY OF WYNDHAM CHAMPIONSHIP

RANDLEMAN, N.C. – The Victory Junction Gang Camp has been selected as the Official Charity of the Wyndham Championship. Wyndham Worldwide (NYSE:WYN), the tournament’s title sponsor, presented a check for $50,000 to the camp as the first contribution of a multi-year commitment that will run for the duration of the company’s sponsorship of the PGA TOUR event in nearby Greensboro.
Based in Randleman, North Carolina, Victory Junction Gang Camp enriches the lives of children with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses by providing life-changing camping experiences that are exciting, fun, and empowering, in a safe and medically sound environment. The camp was established in 2004 by NASCAR driver Kyle Petty and his wife Pattie in honor of their son, Adam.
The 2007 Wyndham Championship is taking place through Aug. 19 at Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. According to tournament director Mark Brazil, the official charity distinction serves to elevate the relationship that already exists between the two Piedmont Triad organizations.
“This event has a long history of support for the Victory Junction Gang Camp,” said Brazil. “We hope that, in addition to our financial support, the camp will greatly benefit from increased national exposure as a result of the tournament’s involvement.”
Victory Junction Gang Camp CEO and Chairman of the Board, Pattie Petty said, “We feel honored and blessed to get the support from the PGA, Wyndham Worldwide, the Greensboro community and all involved with the tournament. The financial support will allow us to continue the fabulous opportunities of empowerment we offer to children with chronic illnesses and their families.”
From charitable initiatives to business ventures, Wyndham Worldwide’s affiliation with the Petty family is multi-faceted. Racing legend Richard Petty and his wife Lynda are VIP owners with Wyndham Vacation Ownership and often call the Wyndham Ocean Walk Resort home while attending NASCAR races in Daytona Beach, Fla. With a desire to replicate the experience for other race fans, Wyndham Vacation Ownership and Richard Petty Driving Experience have developed Richard Petty Race Vacations, which combine stays at select hotel and resort properties in Daytona Beach, Orlando and Las Vegas with the thrill of riding in or driving a race car at the Richard Petty Driving Experience. Super 8 Motels, also a member of the Wyndham Worldwide family of companies, is an associate sponsor of the Petty Enterprises #43 Cheerios/Betty Crocker Dodge and its driver, Bobby Labonte.
“The Wyndham Worldwide family of companies is proud of our longstanding relationship with the Petty family and we are honored to support their extraordinary efforts on behalf of children with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses,” said Stephen P. Holmes, Wyndham Worldwide chairman and chief executive officer. “Our selection of the Victory Junction Gang Camp as the Official Charity of the Wyndham Championship is reflective of our long-term commitment to the organization and the families it serves, as well as to the Greensboro community.”
