Wyndham Championship Accepting Volunteer Applications

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Wyndham Championship is inviting Piedmont Triad residents to serve as volunteers when the PGA TOUR returns to the region Aug. 11-17. This year’s volunteers will have some of the best vantage points as PGA TOUR players experience Sedgefield Country Club for the first time since 1976.

As it does every year, the Wyndham Championship depends on thousands of volunteers to make the Piedmont Triad’s PGA TOUR event a success. The tournament counts on its volunteers to fill a variety of positions that are vital parts of tournament operations.
The biggest need is for Gallery Control personnel; these people will work inside the ropes throughout the golf course, assuring a professional experience for golfers and fans alike. Golf enthusiasts can also work with the PGA TOUR’s SHOTLink staff to provide computerized results information and competition statistics.

During the Monday and Wednesday pro-am tournaments, fans with golf knowledge and etiquette can serve as caddies for the amateurs and have the opportunity to walk 18 holes with a PGA TOUR professional. Adults and children age 13 and older can serve as standard bearers, walking with a group of PGA TOUR professionals to keep the gallery up to date on scores from the group.

Volunteers must sign up online at wyndhamchampionship.com/volunteers.asp. The Wyndham Championship volunteer coordinator, Dare London, can be reached at the tournament office, (336) 379-1570. Volunteers who purchase the $45 uniform package will also receive a volunteer badge good for admission all week, one complimentary ticket book, free parking and one meal for each shift worked in addition to the uniform. The package is a $300 value.

The 2008 Wyndham Championship is set for Aug. 11-17 in Greensboro, N.C. Tickets are available online at wyndhamchampionship.com or through the tournament office. The tournament thanks title sponsor Wyndham Worldwide and Premier Partners, AIG, BB&T Cadillac, Harris Teeter, and VF Corporation for their continued support. Additional tournament information is available at wyndhamchampionship.com or through the tournament office at (336) 379-1570.
