WYNDHAM ANNOUNCES YOUTH GOLF CLINICS PRESENTED BY SUNBRELLA®

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Three Wyndham Championship Youth Golf Clinics, presented by Sunbrella®, are set for Monday and Tuesday of next week, it was announced today.  The 72nd annual Wyndham Championship presented by BB&T is set for Aug, 15-21 at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.

The first youth golf clinic is set for Monday, Aug. 15 at 11 a.m. at Winston Lake Golf Course in Winston-Salem.  PGA TOUR golfer Joe Bramlett will attend this clinic.  Bramlett played through three rounds of PGA TOUR qualifying school last year to earn his PGA TOUR card.  The PGA TOUR rookie and California native is an alumnus of Stanford University.

Former University of Alabama golfer Bud Cauley will attend the clinic at Burlington’s Alamance Country Club on Tuesday, Aug. 16 at 4 p.m.  Cauley made his professional golf debut in June at the U.S. Open two weeks after finishing his college career.  Cauley will play the Wyndham Championship on a sponsor’s exemption.

The third clinic is set for Greensboro’s Gillespie Golf Course at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 16. Morgan Hoffmann will be the professional golfer at this clinic.  The Oklahoma State University golfer turned professional earlier this year giving up a chance to play for the United States on the Walker Cup team this year.  He has made two cuts in three PGA TOUR starts this year.  Like Cauley, he will play the Wyndham Championship on a sponsor’s exemption.

All three clinics are open to the general public and are free of charge; in addition, the first 100 kids at each clinic will receive a free Wyndham Championship hat and t-shirt.  Youth golfers ages 15 and under are welcome.  Later in the week when PGA TOUR competition begins, families can attend the Wyndham Championship inexpensively with the tournament’s long-term policy of admitting kids ages 15 and under free of charge when accompanied by a paying adult.

“These clinics are a great opportunity for Piedmont Triad kids, and we thank our friends at Sunbrella for helping us present them,” Wyndham tournament director Mark Brazil said.  “The kids attending these clinics will be able to hear what it takes to become a professional golfer from guys who are still very early in the journey.  The players will talk about basic life skills in addition to golf, and they’ll show the kids some shots and how to hit them. Then they can come to Sedgefield and watch them in action.”

Contested annually on the Donald Ross-designed course at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C., the Wyndham Championship was founded in 1938 and is the seventh oldest event on the PGA TOUR.  Tickets are available at wyndhamchampionship.com, at Piedmont Triad Harris Teeter locations or through the tournament office.  The tournament thanks title sponsor Wyndham Worldwide, presenting sponsor BB&T and Premier Partners, Flow Automotive, Harris Teeter, McConnell Golf, Sunbrella®, Technology Concepts & Design and VF Corporation for their continued support.  Additional tournament information, including ticket packages and sponsorship information, is available at wyndhamchampionship.com or through the tournament office at (336) 379-1570.  For more information about Wyndham Worldwide, please visit www.wyndhamworldwide.com.
