Wyndham Vacations Up For Grabs in Tropical Wear Contest

GREENSBORO, N.C. – An escape to the Wyndham can come in many different forms. Visit an Aspen ski lodge? Check. Take a trip to the beach? No problem. Change your latitude and your attitude at Margaritaville at the Wyndham? Caribbean soul confirmed. But winning an amazing vacation from title sponsor Wyndham Worldwide will require creativity, and that creativity will be on full display during next week’s Wyndham Championship Tropical Wear Contest – the very popular event returns this year for a fourth run, the tournament announced today. The 76th annual Wyndham Championship begins Monday at Sedgefield Country Club.

Grass skirts, floral shirts, snorkels, flippers, leis and straw hats are just some of the props used in previous Wyndham Championship Tropical Wear Contests. Fans attending the Wyndham Championship next week will have another chance to win a vacation from Wyndham Worldwide. On Saturday, Aug. 23 during the third round of the Wyndham, Piedmont Triad golf fans should escape to the Wyndham in their most creative tropical outfits. Tropical wear such as beach hats, sandals, Hawaiian shirts, shorts, skirts, grass skirts, sarongs, cover-ups, scuba gear, etc. are examples of acceptable contest attire. Clothing that is not widely considered family friendly, at the discretion of the judges, will not be eligible for the contest.

First place will receive a six-day, five-night stay at the Wyndham Rio Mar, Puerto Rico. Second place will receive a four-day, three-night stay at the Wyndham San Diego Bayside, and third place will receive a four-day, three-night stay at the Wyndham Beacon Hill in Boston. Winners must be at least 18 years of age. Access to the beach viewing platform will be randomly distributed to people that are dressed in tropical attire. Every person that participates in the contest will instantly receive a drink ticket good for one complimentary beverage (beer, wine, soda or water) at the Margaritaville at the Wyndham concession area.

Wyndham Championship officials will be on the course Saturday looking for the best, most creative tropical outfits; those fans whose outfits warrant tournament staff to take notice will be invited to participate in the contest. At 2 p.m. on Saturday, the Tropical Wear contest will begin at Margaritaville at the Wyndham located adjacent to the Sedgefield clubhouse. Tropical wear-clad fans can also participate in the contest by simply showing up at Margaritaville at the Wyndham prior to judging on Saturday to be a part of the official contest.  WKRR – Rock 92 morning show hosts Chris Kelly and Biggie will judge the competition.
