The Field

The starting field of 132 players is determined by the PGA TOUR. The Chrysler Classic of Greensboro has four sponsor exemptions. Two are restricted to current PGA TOUR professionals. The tournament can fill its two unrestricted exemptions with any golfer with a scratch handicap.

Format

Play will be contested over 72 holes of stroke play. The low 70 golfers will make the 36-hole cut. Should a playoff be necessary following the final round, the playoff holes are 18, 17, 18, 17, etc.

All four rounds of the Chrysler Classic of Greensboro have live television coverage.

Thursday: 4 – 6 p.m. on USA Network Friday: 4-6 p.m. on USA Network

Saturday: 3-6 p.m. on USA Network Sunday: 3-6 p.m. on ABC Sports

2004 Chrysler Classic of Greensboro Recap

In the first round, Jason Dufner posted a seven-under-par 65 to lead Brent Geiberger, Tom Pernice, Jr., Bo Van Pelt, Brendan Pappas, and Brett Quigley by one stroke. On Friday, Geiberger fired a 67 and moved to 11-under-par to lead Jeff Brehaut, David Toms and Pernice by one stroke. Five players were two strokes off the lead after the first two rounds. On Saturday, Geiberger and Tom Lehman were tied at 12-under-par, 204. Toms, Matt Gogel, Michael Allen and Joe Ogilvie were one stroke back; Chris Smith and 2003 Chrysler Classic winner Shigeki Maruyama were two strokes off the lead after three rounds. Sunday’s final round was all Geiberger as he fired a six-under-par 66 to win the tournament by two strokes over Michael Allen. Third round co-leader Lehman shot 70 and finished tied for fourth.
