GREENSBORO, N.C. – FedExCup No. 6 Ben Griffin and fan favorite Max Homa will play the Wyndham Championship in two weeks, the tournament announced today. The 86th annual Wyndham Championship is set for July 30-Aug. 3, 2025 at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.
These players join defending champion Aaron Rai, FedExCup No. 25 and past champion Lucas Glover, FedExCup No. 28 Ryan Fox, past champions Si Woo Kim, J.T. Poston, two-time champion Brandt Snedeker and Webb Simpson in the field.
Griffin is sixth in FedExCup points and 16th in the Official World Golf Rankings. Both of his PGA TOUR victories came this season, and if history is any indication, he could very well win his third at Sedgefield. In his three previous appearances here, he finished fourth in 2022 as a sponsor exemption and tied for seventh last year. In his three AJGA Wyndham Invitational tournaments at Sedgefield, he finished tied for 12th, sixth and tied for third.
Earlier this season, he teamed with Andrew Novak to win the Zurich Classic of New Orleans and then went onto win the Charles Schwab Challenge before finishing second at the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday the next week. The University of North Carolina alumnus and Chapel Hill native stepped away from the game in 2021 and worked at a North Carolina Mortgage company before resuming his golf career.
Homa, who represented the United States in the 2023 Ryder Cup and the 2022 and ’24 Presidents Cup, will make his third Wyndham Championship appearance and his first since 2017. He finished tied for fifth at the John Deere Classic earlier this month for his best finish of the season. He also finished tied for 12th at the Masters Tournament.
