GREENSBORO, N.C. – Joohyung (Tom) Kim, Chris Gotterup, Cole Hammer and Jason Dufner will play next week’s Wyndham Championship on sponsor’s exemptions joining Trent Phillips and Rafa Cabrera Bello who were previously announced, the tournament announced today. Next week’s 83rd annual Wyndham Championship is set for Aug. 3-7, 2022 at Sedgefield Country Club.

These players join world No. 14 Billy Horschel, FedExCup No. 14 Sungjae Im, World No. 24 Shane Lowry, Harold Varner III, Rickie Fowler, former World No. 1 and major championship winners Justin Rose, Adam Scott and Jason Day, 2018 Open champion Francesco Molinari, 2016 Masters champion Danny Willett, defending champion Kevin Kisner, three-time champion Davis Love III, 2011 champion Webb Simpson, two-time champion Brandt Snedeker, past champions Si Woo Kim, Ryan Moore, Jim Herman and Camilo Villegas, Rafa Cabrera Bello, Tyrell Hatton as well as 2019 champion J.T. Poston and University of Georgia alumni Harris English, Russell Henley, Brian Harman, Sepp Straka, Keith Mitchell, Kris Kirk, Brendon Todd and Greyson Sigg in the Wyndham Championship field.

Kim, 20, is No. 39 in the Official World Golf Rankings. Although he still seeks his maiden PGA TOUR victory, the six-time international winner finished third at the Genesis Scottish Open earlier this month, tied for 17th at the AT&T Byron Nelson and 23rd at the U.S. Open and earned the PGA TOUR’s special temporary membership. A native of Seoul, South Korea, he is not yet eligible to earn FedExCup points but seems destined for PGA TOUR greatness. He will make his first Wyndham Championship start next week.

Gotterup has five PGA TOUR starts including the 2022 U.S. Open in which he finished tied for 43rd. He finished tied for fourth at the John Deere Classic, tied for seventh at the Puerto Rico Open and tied for 31st at last week’s 3M Open. After transferring to Rutgers from the University of Oklahoma, the PGA TOUR rookie was a first-team All-Big Ten selection and the Big Ten Player of the Year in 2020. In his redshirt senior year at Oklahoma, Gotterup was named the consensus No. 1 collegiate golfer, winning the Haskins Award and the Jack Nicklaus Award; he was named a consensus first-team All-American and Big 12 Golfer of the Year. Gotterup will make his first Wyndham Championship appearance next week.

When he was just 15 years old, Hammer became the third-youngest U.S. Open qualifier when he made the 2015 field at Chambers Bay; he shot 77 in the first round. He played the event two more times and added an Open Championship – all as an amateur. The 22-year-old Houston native won the Mark H. McCormack Medal as the top amateur golfer in the world in 2019 and was the Big 12 Conference individual champion in 2021. He won a national championship earlier this summer in his senior season at the University of Texas. Now a Korn Ferry Tour regular, the two-time Walker Cupper finished tied for seventh the Memorial Health Championship. He turned professional prior to this summer’s Travelers Championship and will make his first Wyndham Championship appearance next week.

As announced earlier this week, Phillips, who won the 2017 AJGA Wyndham Invitational presented by Truist at Sedgefield Country Club, will make his first Wyndham Championship start on a sponsor’s exemption. He is the University of Georgia’s fifth four-time All-American player and the first in school history to be named first team All-SEC four times. A 2022 Georgia graduate, he made his first PGA TOUR start at the 2019 Barracuda Championship finishing tied for 71st.

Dufner won the 2013 PGA Championship and has four additional PGA TOUR wins. The Auburn University alumnus will make his 15th Wyndham Championship start next week; this year’s Wyndham will be his seventh-consecutive appearance. He finished tied for seventh in 2012 for his best finish and wound up tied for 24th here last year.
