MAJOR WINNERS MARTIN KAYMER, DANNY WILLETT & DENMARK’S LUCAS BJERREGAARD JOIN FIELD

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Major winners Martin Kaymer and Danny Willett as well as European Tour golfer Lucas Bjerregaard will play the Wyndham Championship, the tournament announced today.  The 80th Wyndham Championship, which will determine the $10 Million Wyndham Rewards Top 10, is set for July 30-Aug. 4, 2019 at Sedgefield Country Club.

These players join FedExCup No. 8 Paul Casey, defending champion Brandt Snedeker, former champions Webb Simpson, Davis Love III and Si Woo Kim and young guns Matthew Wolff, Collin Morikawa and Viktor Hovland in the field.

Kaymer is a two-time Major champion having won the PGA Championship in 2010 and the U.S. Open in 2014 when he also won the PLAYERS Championship.  He has 12 international victories in addition to his three on the PGA TOUR.  With just 12 PGA TOUR starts this season, Kaymer is 140th in the FedExCup point standings and 86th in the Official World Golf Rankings.  A native and resident of Germany, he finished third at the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide for his best finish of the season.  Kaymer is making his third Wyndham Championship appearance.  He finished tied for 20th in 2013 and tied for 14th in 2015.

Willett, the 2016 Masters champion, is making his first Wyndham Championship appearance.  A native and resident of England, Willett finished tied for eighth at the Travelers Championship and tied for 12th at the U.S. Open earlier this season.  His Masters victory is his lone PGA TOUR win, but he also has six European Tour victories to his credit.  He is 125th in the current FedExCup point standings and 75th in the Official World Golf Rankings.  He represented the European Team in the 2016 Ryder Cup.

A native of Denmark currently living in Monaco, Bjerregaard is 51st in the Official World Golf Rankings and 36th in the European Tour Race to Dubai point standings.  He won the European Tour Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in 2018 and the Portugal Masters in 2017.  In just his eighth PGA TOUR start, he defeated Tiger Woods in the quarterfinals of the World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play earlier this season and went on to finish fourth.  He also finished tied for 12th at the Honda Classic and tied for 16th at the PGA Championship earlier this season. He won the Danish Open Amateur in 2007 and ’08 as well as the European Tour Amateur in 2010.
