GREENSBORO, N.C. – Two highly-ranked international players, Sungjae Im and Thomas Detry, will play the Wyndham Championship in two weeks, the tournament announced today. The 86th annual Wyndham Championship is set for July 30-Aug. 3, 2025 at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.
These players join FedExCup No. 6 Ben Griffin, Max Homa, Scottish Open Champion Chris Gotterup, defending champion Aaron Rai, FedExCup No. 25 and past champion Lucas Glover, FedExCup No. 28 Ryan Fox, past champions Si Woo Kim, J.T. Poston, two-time champion Brandt Snedeker and Webb Simpson in the field.
Im is a two-time PGA TOUR winner who is currently 27th in FedExCup points and 25th in the Official World Golf Rankings. A native of South Korea, his best finishes this season are tied for fifth at the Masters Tournament and tied for 11th at the RBC Heritage. He played for the Presidents Cup international team in 2019, ’22 and ’24 and represented South Korea in the 2020 Olympic Games. Im has three top-10 finishes in six previous Wyndham Championship starts including tied for second in 2022.
A native of Brussels, Belgium, Detry is 33rd in FedExCup points and 39th in the Official World Golf Rankings. He won his first PGA TOUR event early this season at the WM Phoenix Open; he also finished tied for fifth at The Sentry and tied for 18th at the RBC Canadian Open. Detry will make his third Wyndham Championship start; his best finish was his first trip to Sedgefield when finished 21st in 2023. In June of 2019, he set a Guinness World Record for the fastest hole of golf by an individual when he played the 500-yard 10th hole at Real Club de Golf Guadalmina in Marbella, Spain in 1 minute, 29 seconds; he broke the previous record by four seconds.
