Wyndham Vacations Available in Wyndham Championship Tropical Wear Contest

GREENSBORO, N.C.  – Grass Skirts, floral shirts, snorkels, flippers, leis, straw hats, and goofy hats are just some of the props used in previous Wyndham Championship Tropical Wear Contests.  In 2014, the very popular event returns for a third run, the tournament announced today.  The 75th anniversary Wyndham Championship begins Monday at Sedgefield Country Club.

Fans attending the Wyndham Championship next week will have another chance to win a vacation from Wyndham Worldwide.  On Saturday, Aug. 16 during the third round of the Wyndham, Piedmont Triad golf fans should come to Sedgefield in their most creative tropical outfits.  Tropical wear such as beach hats, sandals, Hawaiian shirts, shorts, skirts, grass skirts, sarongs, cover-ups, scuba gear, etc. are examples of acceptable contest attire.  Thong bikinis and other clothing that is not widely considered family friendly will not be eligible for the contest.

First place will receive a three-night stay at the Wyndham Grand Chicago Riverfront.  Second place will receive a three-night stay at the Wyndham Grand Orlando Resort, and third place will receive a two-weekend night stay at Wyndham’s New Yorker Hotel.  Access to the beach viewing platform will be randomly distributed to people that are dressed in tropical attire.  Every person that participates in the contest will instantly receive a voucher for $5 worth of concessions (food and beverage only) at the Margaritaville at The Wyndham concession area.

Wyndham Championship officials will be on the course Saturday looking for the best, most creative tropical outfits, and those fans whose outfits warrant tournament staff to take notice will be invited to participate in the contest.  At 2 p.m. on Saturday, the Tropical Wear contest will begin at Margaritaville at the Wyndham, which is located adjacent to the Sedgefield clubhouse.  Tropical wear-clad fans can also participate in the contest by simply showing up at Margaritaville at the Wyndham prior to judging on Saturday to be a part of the official contest.  WKRR – Rock 92 morning show hosts Chris Kelly and Biggie will judge the competition.

Celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2014 and contested annually on the Donald Ross-designed course at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C., the Wyndham Championship was founded in 1938 and is the sixth-oldest event on the PGA TOUR excluding the Majors.  Tickets are available at Piedmont Triad Harris Teeter locations, wyndhamchampionship.com or through the tournament office.  The tournament thanks title sponsor Wyndham Worldwide, presenting sponsor BB&T and Premier Partners, Cadillac, Harris Teeter, Lincoln Financial, McConnell Golf, New Breed Logistics, Sunbrella®, Technology Concepts & Design, Inc. and VF Corporation for their continued support.  Additional tournament information, including ticket packages and sponsorship information, is available at wyndhamchampionship.com or through the tournament office at (336) 379-1570.  For more information about Wyndham Worldwide, please visit www.wyndhamworldwide.com.  Stay connected with the Wyndham Championship through its social media channels, including the Wyndham Championship Facebook page, Twitter, Instagram, Foursquare, Flickr and YouTube.
