Wyndham Championship Fore! Good Online Auction Launches

GREENSBORO, N.C. – In an effort to highlight all of the ways the Wyndham Championship supports the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina, the tournament announced today the introduction of Wyndham Championship Fore! Good, a new platform focused on charitable giving and community development and the tournament’s official charity.

Starting today, members of the general public are invited to bid on exciting prizes and once-in-a-lifetime experiences through the Wyndham Championship Fore! Good online auction, supporting the many worthy causes the event supports. The 78th annual Wyndham Championship is set for Aug. 14-20, 2017 at Sedgefield Country Club.

“Supporting the communities our business touches is a priority for Wyndham Worldwide, and we’re thrilled to announce all of our contributions to the Piedmont Triad region are now under the banner of Wyndham Championship Fore! Good as part of our corporate social responsibility program,” said Faith Taylor, senior vice president for corporate social responsibility, Wyndham Worldwide. “We support outstanding local organizations to go above what’s expected, doing business in a way that makes our partners proud, including everyone at the Wyndham Championship.”

This year, the tournament returns with an on-line auction featuring exciting items and once-in-a-lifetime experiences with net proceeds benefiting Wyndham Championship Fore! The Wyndham Championship’s contributions to the Piedmont Triad area reach beyond dollars donated to provide valuable resources to empower the community. The impact can be seen in the numbers: from thousands of meals donated through Birdies Fore Backpacks, to hundreds of college prep sessions provided through Crosby Scholars, to dozens of golf clinics taught through the First Tee of the Triad. Wyndham Championship Fore! Good supports many worthy causes with deep roots in the Piedmont Triad community.

 Youth and Education:

The Wyndham Championship is passionate about inspiring the next generation and is proud to partner with and support several organizations leading the way in this area. Birdies Fore Backpacks, created in 2014 to help fight childhood food insecurity in the Piedmont Triad, remains a tournament priority. This charitable endeavor benefits four vital local charities: Backpack Beginnings, Forsyth Backpacks, Out of the Garden Project and United Way of Greater High Point. In addition, the tournament aims to help youth discover their dreams through the support of the Kevin Harvick Foundation and help prepare them for college through Crosby Scholars. The Paul Tesori Foundation, the American Junior Golf Association and the First Tee of the Triad remain key beneficiaries of Wyndham Championship Fore! Good with their connection to golf and dedication to youth.

Community Development:

The Wyndham is committed to supporting the greater good of the Piedmont Triad community and is proud to build upon last years’ partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Greensboro to once again donate the structure housing the popular fan amenity, “Key to Wyn,” to a deserving family. Wyndham Championship Fore! Good promotes economic development through the Piedmont Triad Partnership and Hopfest in the Boro, an annual craft beer festival. On Tuesday of tournament week, the Wyndham’s Executive Women’s Day creates a powerful platform for celebrating, empowering and inspiring women through the local PGA TOUR event.

Environmental Sustainability:

The Wyndham Championship focuses on the environment by exploring and adopting innovative sustainable practices. Over the past several years, the home of the Wyndham Championship, Sedgefield Country Club, has been on a journey to green this historic course. Under the management of McConnell Golf, Sedgefield has implemented several environmental sustainability initiatives that have saved energy and cut costs including lighting upgrades and water-efficient fixture installations. In addition, Sedgefield Country Club is applying for the Audubon education and certification program to protect the valuable, natural areas and wildlife habitats that golf course provide while improving efficiencies and minimizing the impact of golf course operations.
