GREENSBORO, N.C. – – In partnership with Folds of Honor and the PGA TOUR, the Wyndham Championship will debut Folds of Honor Friday during the second round of the 2025 Wyndham Championship, the tournament announced today. The 86th annual Wyndham Championship is set for July 30-Aug. 3, 2025 at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.
Supported TOUR-wide, Folds of Honor Friday recognizes the commitment and sacrifice of military service members and first responders who guard our freedoms and protect our communities. It is an inspiring experience for fans, players, caddies, sponsors, volunteers and tournament staff to engage on-site through a shared connection and appreciation of those heroes who preserve our freedoms and protect our families.
Because of the Wyndham Championship’s inclusion in Folds of Honor Friday, 13 central North Carolina students will receive academic scholarships on behalf of the tournament. Prior to the start of the second round on Friday, Aug. 1, Folds of Honor and the Wyndham Championship will host a special ceremony at the flag poles near the Sedgefield clubhouse and Margaritaville at the Wyndham.
Scholarships will be recognized, the American Flag will be raised by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guard including Nathaniel Degraffenried, Cecil Summers, Justin Washington and Erik Young. To close the ceremony, Greensboro’s Abby Aron will sing the National Anthem at approximately 6:32 a.m. prior to the start of second-round play.
At the Wyndham Championship, all are encouraged to wear red, white and blue on Friday as a way to pay tribute to all who serve. Folds of Honor Friday at the Wyndham Championship will also include official Folds of Honor ribbon pins that will be proudly distributed and can be worn throughout the patriotic day.
“We are thrilled to add Folds of Honor to our historic PGA TOUR event,” Tournament Director Bobby Powell said. “The Wyndham Championship, in partnership with Wyndham Rewards, is proud to stand with the families of those who make selfless sacrifices on behalf of our nation and communities throughout central North Carolina. This initiative enhances our long-standing tradition of honoring members of the military, veterans and first responders through the Wyndham Championship as a small measure of our appreciation for what they do.”
“We are grateful to the Wyndham Championship, its sponsors, outstanding tournament team and the patrons who support American heroes,” said Lt Col Dan Rooney, founder and CEO of Folds of Honor. “This is one of the true historic events on the PGA TOUR and we’re honored to be associated with it. The inclusion of Folds of Honor Friday will directly benefit local scholars who deserve and need our help.”
