WYNDHAM CHAMPIONSHIP WINNER NAMED 2007 PGA TOUR ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Brandt Snedeker, the winner of the inaugural Wyndham Championship has been named the 2007 PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year. The Wyndham Championship was Snedeker’s first PGA TOUR victory.
In addition to the Wyndham win, Snedeker’s fabulous year included making the cut in 23 of the 29 events he entered this season. Snedeker also played in all the FedEx Cup Playoff events including the Tour Championship. At the end of the season, Snedeker totaled $2,836,643 placing him 17th on the money list; he is currently 52nd in the Official World Golf Rankings. His money total is the third-highest rookie total in PGA TOUR history. The Rookie of the Year award is voted on by PGA TOUR members.

“This has been a wonderful season for me,” Snedeker said. “To finish it by being voted by my peers as the Rookie of the Year is tremendous. When I look at the list of TOUR players who have been honored in such a way, I am humbled to have my name alongside them. When I started the season, I had certain goals as we all do.

“Obviously, I wanted to keep my card and learn as much as possible about life on this TOUR and find a comfort level out here. Thankfully, I got off to a good start on the West-coast swing and my confidence grew. As the season progressed, I really gained confidence, knew I could compete on this level and a lot of hard work came to fruition with my victory at the Wyndham Championship.”

Snedeker’s 3-iron to within 32 feet on the par-3 17th set up a birdie putt on the 71st hole of the Wyndham Championship that moved him ahead of Tim Petrovic for good. The rookie finished with a 9-under-par 63 in the final round for his first-career PGA TOUR win, a two-stroke victory.
